I recently started off a series of posts on advanced email marketing techniques. We started with a lesson on using the Parser feature, and a few days ago discussed segmenting our lists. And today I’ll cover geo-targeting your list.

Many affiliate offers are restricted geographically to certain countries or regions. It would be huge waste of resources and bad form to email offers to readers that can’t use them because they don’t live in the country where the offer is available. Here is yet another example of a situation geo-targeting would suit perfectly. If you’re in network marketing and you’re trying to promote an event in a certain area, and you’d like to invite your list members who live in the area to the big event, you can easily do so with this feature.
Segment Your List By Country:
Log-in to your AWeber account and choose “Search” from the “Subscribers” tab. On the page that loads, you will see a list of options to choose from in a drop down menu. The one we’re going for today is “Country (from IP)”. And, if you really want to dig deeper, you can segment by region, city, postal code, latitude, longitude, etc. For our lesson today, we will just create a list of U.S. subscribers.
Depending on the size of your email list, the search can take anywhere from a few seconds to a few minutes to generate results. Give the new segmented list a name and save it. Now you can email a broadcast to your list and target it to any region, city, country, or zip you want!
